I have made the decision that from March 2016 I will change to Lance Brauman’s coaching. It means that from then on I will be more and more located in Clermont, Florida. Coach Brauman has the PureAthletics team which consists of some of the best sprinters in the world. The team has both short and long sprinters, meaning 100m, 200m and 400m runners. I am beyond excited and looking forward to our co-operation. This is a huge change, but as I’ve said, sometimes you need to be brave enough to try something new in order to reach new heights. Coach Gary, coach Steven and Evan were a great help during my last visit to Clermont and I am looking forward to continuing co-operation with them as well.
I am thankful for our long and successful co-operation with Petteri Jouste. We have come a long way since 2006, when I came to study in Jyväskylä. I feel safe to say that we’ve both grown during our journey together. However, it is natural that people move on and this is my opportunity to take steps forward in my career. As a professional Petteri understood my choice and supported me in it. We have both learned a lot during the last Fall and he will support me through the transition phase. From March, however, Lance Brauman will oversee my trainings in Florida and in Europe, as much as possible, and Robert will be responsible of things outside of Coach Brauman’s reach.
This is for sure a big change in the middle of the season, but it is the most logical step for me. I’ve made decisions regarding the indoor season and preparations for the upcoming Summer that make perfectly good sense in finalizing my transition to a new system. I’m eager to get to Clermont and start our co-operation with Coach Brauman and his team. I have a good feeling about it!
I will be present at today’s Jyväskylä Indoor Games for further comments or you can always contact me via Robert.
